On March 8, the world celebrated International Women’s Day. At Prima Strada, we celebrated with our first Festa della Donna Dinner – a long-table dinner with a menu created by women, for women benefitting the BC Farm Women’s Network Scholarship Fund.
The Festa della Donna dinner was inspired by a trip PPS owner Cristen took to her family’s village in Italy. By happenstance, she and her sister were there on International Women’s Day and were invited to an all-women’s luncheon to celebrate. The men cooked and served the meal for all the women of the village. It was a memorable experience and Cristen wanted to share it with women in Victoria.
PPS’ Festa della Donna 2014 was a sold out event – an evening at the long-table with both fabulous food and even better company. Guests shared four delicious and inspiring courses paired with a wine to highlight each dish.
Special guests included Anthea Archer and daughter Maryann Archer Hartmann of Fairburn Farm. Anthea spoke and answered questions about the BC Farm Women’s Network, the organization benefiting from the dinner. The BC Farm Women’s Network is dedicated to farm families with the purpose of advancing agricultural education, to provide a forum for farm women to network and to speak with an integrated voice. If you eat, you’re involved in agriculture.
We’re thrilled to announce that with the help of our guests, we raised 1000 dollars for the organization’s scholarship fund.
Didn’t get to celebrate International Women’s Day with us? That’s ok. We’ll do it again next year. Mark your calendar for Festa della Donna on Saturday, March 7, 2015.
