Long Table Dining at Prima Strada Bridge
Join Us For Our Next Long Table Dinner at PPS Bridge! Details Here!

Our next Long Table Dinner is upon us!

Not familiar with PPS’ long table dining series? Read on for all you need to know!

We’ve been hosting these evenings for about 5 years now. (Wow, time flies!)

Here’s how they work… We prepare a very special 4-course meal and pair it with delicious wines. Each time, the food and wine pertain to a different region in Italy. Around the long table at PPS Bridge, we eat, we drink, we learn, and we enjoy each other’s company!

Please join us at our Bridge Street location on Wednesday, January 27th to celebrate the food and wine of Piemonte! This is an Italian region well known for its wine and sheep’s milk cheese – two things we love here at PPS.

We’ll gather at 7pm to enjoy our meal. Our menu will be planned by PPS Chef Alex How.

As always, food will be served family style.

As mentioned above, each course will be paired with a different wine. This time around we’ll enjoy Asti Spumante, Dolcetto, Barbera D’Asti and Barolo. Expect PPS Wine Guy, Andrew Johnson, to provide you with all the important details surrounding our evening’s selections. He’ll have answers to any questions you might have.

We can’t wait, and…

You may recall <a href="http://www viagra dans la pharmacie.pizzeriaprimastrada.com/blog/announcements/heres-your-recap-of-pps-naples-italy-tour-2014/”>this past September when our team spent some time in southern Italy. Well, the wines and food of Sicily are still fresh in our hearts and minds, and they’ll be the evening’s focus.

The evening begins at 7pm at our Bridge Street location. While Andrew shares his knowledge and answers your questions about Sicilian wines, you’ll sip vino and snack antipasti. Dinner will follow – served family-style. The meal will feature Chef Andrew’s favourite Sicilian dishes.

Purchase your seat from the PPS Events Page. Cost is $60 per person (includes tax and gratuity). The evening includes wine tasting, antipasti, dinner and a glass of wine with your meal.

Enjoyed the wines? The event’s wines will be featured for the month of May at both PPS locations.

Summer Days on the Island – Fruit Tree Picking & A Moveable Feast

If you’ve lived on Vancouver Island for any length of time, you’ve learned summers here are short – but sweet.  Luckily, there are plenty of activities that help squeeze every last ounce of fun out of our short burst of summer heat.  Last week I was fortunate to fit in not one but two uniquely Victorian experiences – fruit tree picking with LifeCycles & a Vespa pilgrimage to the Cowichan Valley.Vancouver Island grown golden plums

Vancouver Island grows beautiful produce – with many residents having so much fruit growing in their yard, they can barely keep up with the harvest!  Cue The Fruit Tree Project – a non-profit organization that works with volunteers to pick fruit from backyard trees and redistribute it to those in need.  The best part?  Volunteers keep 25% of the harvest!   I was rewarded for my leisurely 3 hours of service with over 3kg of golden plums & transparent apples. Promptly turned into the most amazing preserves, they’re sure to last well into the gloomy winter months.  Interested in reaping the benefits of this much needed…

Join Us April 25 & 26 for our Veneto Long Table Dinner

There are still tickets available for this Wednesday’s & Thursday’s Veneto Long Table Dinner at PPS Bridge Street. One of the most visited regions in Italy, Veneto boasts some of the country’s richest historical, cultural, musical and culinary heritages. Join us at the table for an evening rich in conversation and great food and wines that may make you want to sing.

Dinner will begin with a tribute to the infamous Harry’s Bar in Venice. We’ll start with Peach Bellinis  and Carpaccio di Cipriani and continue the meal with Risi e Bisi – risotto with fresh peas, Baccala alla Vincentina – dried cod Vicenza style & finish with house made Tiramisu.

The Wines? Valpolicella – Folonari (Carpaccio) – crushed berry fruit on the nose, light, refreshing & pleasantly fruity; Pinot Grigio Verduzzo Delle Venezie – Masi Masianco (Risotto) – a blend of Pinot Grigio & Verduzzo grapes, this wine is a floral, buttery treat to savour; Soave Classico (Cod) – soave means “soft” in Italian. The soft floral bouquet, clean pear & lemon flavours with a lingering finish help this wine live up to its name.
