Cobble Hill Celebrates 1st Birthday
Oh What Fun, Look Who’s One!

Prima Strada Cobble Hill Celebrates a Birthday with New Sparkling Wine

Two food lovers with a passion for pizza were inspired to create Pizzeria Prima Strada. Cristen and Geoffrey recognized the need for a neighborhood pizzeria in the Cowichan Valley, a place you could gather with family and friends for a delicious meal. Now, one year later, Cowichan Valley’s newest wood-fired pizzeria is celebrating its first anniversary!

Just a year ago, with the opening of Cobble Hill,  Prima Strada and Averill Creek launched the highly successful Vino della Casa.  The new house wine, Prima Prevost and Prima Grigio are 100% estate grown; hand crafted in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island by Averill Creek Vineyard.

“It’s something we’re incredibly proud of,” say Cristen DeCarolis. “and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate our first anniversary in Cobble Hill than with the addition of bubbles – Prima Frizzante has joined the family!”

On your next trip through or to the Cowichan Valley, stop at PPS Cobble Hill (located right off the hwy on Cow Bay Rd- open daily from 11:30am – 9:00pm) for wood-fired pizza, house made gelato, local craft beer and don’t forget to raise a glass…

Riot Brewing Cask Night at PPS Cobble Hill

Riot Brewing Cask Night!

Love wood fired pizza and local beer?  If you’re vigorously nodding, we’ve got just the thing.  It’s true, there’s no better combination. Pizza and beer really are the best of friends and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Chemainus locals, Riot Brewing, for our first cask night at PPS Cobble Hill.

Franz Dessombes, Executive Chef at Pizzeria Prima Strada helped out at the brewery. “We were fortunate to be a part of the hands-on process when it came time to tweak the ‘Life Partners Pale Ale’ cask. We know you’ll like the sour cherry and thyme twist – plus it pairs really nicely with pizza so everybody wins!”

“Riot is a great partner for us,” Dessombes continues. “They brew classic and true-to-style beer and are a very fun team to work with. The event will be a excellent way to introduce both businesses into the authentic and thriving food and beverage community in the Cowichan Valley.

“Pizza and beer is a classic combination, so when The Pizza Man called, we answered. Cask beer…

Cowichan bees, honey, prima strada, Cowichan honey
Sweet Buzz at Prima Strada

Cowichan Honey + PPS = LOVE

For the month of October, we’ve partnered with the Cowichan Beekeepers and added honey to our menu!  All PPS locations will feature local Cowichan fireweed honey (harvested on the west coast of Vancouver Island) on our daily pizza specials including a Bee’s Knees cocktail and our seasonal cinnamon honey gelato.  In partnership with the Cowichan Beekeepers Club, we’ll be donating a portion of all honey pizza and gelato sales to the Cowichan Valley Beekeeping Club.

Cowichan Valley is home to an estimated 400 beekeepers, with approximately 75 belonging to the Cowichan Beekeepers Club. The club, founded in 1954, keeps members up to date on current trends and best practices to keep the valley’s bee colonies strong and healthy.

Our team at PPS, now with first hand bee extraction experience, have been getting creative with the use of honey. We’ve developed some incredible pairings that we know you, our fans will appreciate. We visited Mitchell Grant’s hives, Vice President of the Beekeepers Club, and are now even more in awe of our bee neighbours! Using a truly local ingredient – some hives are less than 10km away from our Cobble Hill pizzeria, it’s just…

PPS Bridge is moving! Cobble Hill here we come!
PPS Bridge is moving to the Cowichan Valley!

We’re moving to the Cowichan Valley and we’re really excited! PPS Cobble Hill will open this Spring!

It will be business as usual at PPS Bridge until Saturday, February 4. We hope you’ll join us for a last celebration or two.

PPS Bridge opened February 15, 2010. We hosted the successful Long Table Dining Series, Vino e Spuntino and Parla Italiano. Most importantly, we were honored to celebrate many weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, retirement and staff parties with family and friends.

To our many Bridge Street guests, especially our loyal lunch crowd, grazie mille! It’s been a pleasure to serve you. We’ve enjoyed being part of the neighborhood and seen great changes with the addition of breweries, coffee roasteries and more. We’ll continue to be a part of the area with PPS Production and our Support Office tucked into a smaller space at 2960 Bridge Street.

We’re excited to bring Prima Strada up island! We look forward to embracing another neighbourhood and expanding outside of Victoria. While a new location, rest assured you’ll see both new and familiar faces as part of the PPS team in Cobble Hill. Construction is underway at our new location in…
