Best Pizza, YAM Magazine

Wow! We’re thrilled, honoured and needing another minute to gush. Mille grazie Victoria for voting Pizzeria Prima Strada as BEST PIZZA at the 2019 YAM Magazine Restaurant Awards.

We’re passionate about what we do, have excellent people and really love making pizza.

Our inspiration stems from Naples, Italy where fire-roasted pizzas are born. For a century and a half, the pizza makers of Naples (or “pizzaioli” as they are known in their home town) have been producing unique mouth-watering pizzas using the freshest ingredients available.

Like any of the best restaurants you’ll find worldwide, Pizzeria Prima Strada is a labor of love. We’ve created neighbourhood pizzerias, a place you can walk to with your friends and family, have a local craft beer or wine and where you can see your food being made – enjoy our version of a taste of Italy.

Best Pizza in Victoria & Cowichan

Yep, it’s plural, PPS WON Best Pizza in Victoria & cowichan!

When we get awards, we’re flattered and honoured. But most importantly we want to say thanks. We know it’s our fans that help us win the awards! Winning BEST PIZZA means a lot to us. Our team is focused on what’s really important: making and serving great pizza.

“We love pizza! We’re a bit obsessed and we know it’s not a secret. Our commitment and dedication is what sets us apart. Our purpose at Prima Strada? Pizza. People. Passion. It’s what we’re all about,” says Cristen DeCarolis, President of Pizzeria Prima Strada.

More than 10 years ago, two food lovers with a passion for wood fired pizza were inspired to create Pizzeria Prima Strada. A neighbourhood pizzeria: a place to gather with family and friends for a delicious and casual meal. Also required? A few cocktails, good wines and craft beer.

Year in Review 2018 – PPS by the numbers!

Yes, it’s the PPS Year in Review 2018! Before we jump into 2019, let’s forget the resolutions and savour some of the really good things from 2018. By good things of course we mean pizza!

Our sincere thanks for making 2018 so memorable. We’re lucky to have an amazing community and we’re beyond grateful for your support. We wouldn’t be where we are without you!

2018 marked the 10th year of Pizzeria Prima Strada and we celebrated with bubbles! Our newest house wine, PPS Frizzante, continues our partnership with Averill Creek Vineyard. PPS Frizzante is 100% estate grown in the Cowichan Valley, right here on Vancouver Island! Salute! Along with the many pizzas, we’re proud to have served up our house made products (made with love by hand). In addition to dough our team made pans of gelato and sorbetto and miles of pepperoni!

Our communities – with three locations on Vancouver Island, we were fortunate to contribute to many the schools, sports and local programs in the neighbourhoods we live and work in. PPS Wins Times Colonist’s BEST PIZZA

We’re humbled to be named Best Pizza and #2 Best Italian in the 2018 Victoria Times Colonist Readers Choice Awards. Wow! Thank you Victoria!

When we get awards, we’re flattered and honoured. We want to share it too. It’s not often we blow our own horn. Staying focused on serving great pizza is our priority. We promise, we’re still focused on pizza but are going to take a moment to boast. Yep, we said boast. We’re loud and we’re proud!

Honestly, we’re thrilled to be a recognized and look forward to sharing many more pizza memories with you, our fans in 2019. Grazie mille Victoria!

PPS Wins EcoStar Award

As a restaurant, a commitment to sustainability should be the rule, not the exception. At Prima Strada, it’s one of our core values be respectful to our customers, team, products, community and especially our environment. We also make really really good wood-fired pizza.

We are honoured to receive the “Greenest Restaurant” award at the 2018 EcoStar Awards, presented by Synergy Enterprises.

The EcoStar Awards acknowledge outstanding environmental consideration, leadership and achievements by individuals, organizations and businesses in and around the Victoria area.

As we initially read through the list of local finalists, we couldn’t help but remark that we were in great company. We’re flattered to have made the list and thrilled to be considered a leader in the food and beverage industry.

There’s always more to be done. With a mandate to relentlessly strive for improvement, we will continue to improve as a community partner and business. Grazie mille!

PPS also won the 2018 Golden Garbage Award (we picked up the most trash in YYJ’s Earth Day competition!) and have previously won the Greenest Restaurant award in 2015 (EcoStar).
