Love wood fired pizza and local beer? If you’re vigorously nodding, we’ve got just the thing. It’s true, there’s no better combination. Pizza and beer really are the best of friends and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Chemainus locals, Riot Brewing, for our first cask night at PPS Cobble Hill.
Franz Dessombes, Executive Chef at Pizzeria Prima Strada helped out at the brewery. “We were fortunate to be a part of the hands-on process when it came time to tweak the ‘Life Partners Pale Ale’ cask. We know you’ll like the sour cherry and thyme twist – plus it pairs really nicely with pizza so everybody wins!”
“Riot is a great partner for us,” Dessombes continues. “They brew classic and true-to-style beer and are a very fun team to work with. The event will be a excellent way to introduce both businesses into the authentic and thriving food and beverage community in the Cowichan Valley.
“Pizza and beer is a classic combination, so when The Pizza Man called, we answered. Cask beer is great because it’s handmade, it’s unique, and it’s gone in a flash, just like Franz’s pizza creations. We’re psyched to have Franz and the Prima Strada team in The Riot Squad,” says Ryan Jones, Assistant Brewer at Riot.
Join us on Friday, November 17 from 5pm – 530pm at PPS Cobble Hill for a mix and mingle. You’ll meet the brewers and get a taste of Riot’s Life Partners Pale Ale with sour cherry and thyme notes. Can’t make it before 530pm? No problem! We’re featuring the beer all night or until the beer runs out…
What exactly is a cask night? Cask ale is traditionally the freshest option out there (which also means it doesn’t have a long shelf life). Unlike kegged beer, cask ale is naturally carbonated which means there is significantly less gas in the beer (and in your stomach!). Most brewers choose to highlight different flavours that would not typically show up in a kegged beer.
