Contest winner - The Lorenzo Pizza

Pick Our Next Pizza Challenge – the winner is The Lorenzo!

It’s been a few years since our last Pick Our Next Pizza Challenge. On Friday, Franz and I grabbed a table at PPS Fort and looked through the cards. It was a serious deliberation. As the cards moved around the table and the finalists were determined, you could hear the same mumble, “Oh, I wanna eat this pizza!” With the help of Primo Pizzaiolo Aaron, we narrowed it down to 5 pies.  Then Franz and Aaron got on line and made up the pies!

Before I tell you about the winner, let me share a few tips from what we learned from our fans: add pesto to the Diavola, we love our vegetables: pizza with mushrooms, peppers and arugula are favorites, we love chicken and goat cheese too!

So many delicious combinations, it was a really hard choice. The winner? The Lorenzo! Basil pesto, fresh tomatoes, pepperoncini, caciocavallo (smoked mozza) and house made fennel sausage!

Honorable mentions to Lauren, Thabo, Daniel and Bobbi. Boy, those were tasty pies! A big thanks to PPS fan Marcus for his feedback – he noticed our deliberations when he stopped in for take-out.

The Lorenzo is the winning pizza! Bravo!

Visit your favorite PPS pizzeria February 20-27 when The Lorenzo will be the Feature Pizza! PPS will donate $2 for every “Lorenzo” purchased to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Hoyne Brewing has joined in too and will pledge $1 with the purchase of a Hoyne beer.

Thanks for helping PPS & Hoyne celebrate Heart Month! That’s a lot of love of for great pizza and beer! As always, GRAZIE MILLE to the PPS fans that participated! Thanks for your passion, creativity, commitment and for sharing such delicious pizzas with us!
