Summer Events 2016 - short list

Summer Events in Victoria

Nothing says summer quite like awesome local events!

There’s a lot that we love about living in Victoria. From the people to the sights and with summer officially days away, the fun events. It’s a very long list with so many great happenings, we’ve whittled it down to our top 5 Don’t Miss!

1. Selkirk Waterfront Festival – May 28
Our favourite family event of the summer! With face painting, balloon animals and fun crafts, your children are sure to love it.  Join us in supporting one of our local neighborhoods – Burnside Gorge. PPS Bridge is a 5 minute walk from the festivities – stop in for pizza, house made gelato or a refreshing beverage!

2. Car Free YYJ – June 19
Bike, walk or bus down to Douglas St to celebrate Car Free YYJ. There’s something for everyone – live music, delicious eateries and over 250 local vendors! Said to be Victoria’s largest street fair with more than 22,000 people in attendance last year. We sure can’t wait!

3. Brewery & the Beast – September 25
An awesome way to wrap up the summer is with one last hurrah at the official “Festival of Meat.” Really, there isn’t much more to say. Mark your calendar for Monday, May 30. Tickets sell out fast! (Yes, it’s that good!)

4. Music Festivals
Jazz Fest – June 24 – July 3
10 days of cool music – this festival has all the jazz genres covered featuring more than 300 live acts! Simply awesome!

Rock the Shores – July 22-24
A showcase of local rock talent. This year’s RTS strives to be an affordable and easily accessible rock festival with children under 10 free. Count us in!

Rifflandia Festival  – September 15-18
Last year’s Riff was bigger and bolder than ever with over 20 venues and 150 performances! We can’t wait to  experience Rifflandia 2016!

PS – Look for the PPS Mobile oven at RTS & Rifflandia!

5. Markets!
From Bastion Square to Sooke, Sidney, and Salt Spring Island and so many in between; we love exploring the  markets in Greater Victoria. Here’s a short list of the many markets:

Bastion Square Public Market Sundays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays, May – September 11a- 430p
Esquimalt Farmers Market – Thursdays, May – September 430-730p
Oak Bay Night Market – second Wednesday of the month, June – September, 4-8p, Oak Bay Avenue

Oaklands Sunset Market – Wednesdays, June 22 – August 24, 430-830p
